Sorry scene kids; this is not another predictable post-hardcore release that'll have you moshing and screaming along with multiple breakdowns. Our Last Night have decided to throw a slight curveball and move away from the heaviness of their previous release, , but have lost none of their charm or flair. Produced by the legendary David Bendeth (Breaking Benjamin; Underoath; Paramore) boasts a great, organic production sound, which suits the band's sound and has just the right amount of polish...

This review originally ran in AP 290. From the opening notes of Our Last Night's third album, it's clear the band are of the Artist In The Ambulance-era Thrice-meets-Saosin school of thought. Frontman Trevor Wentworth does his best Cove Reber impersonation with the range God gave him (which unfortunately isn't high enough for compelling vocal lines), while guitarists Colin Perry and Matt Wentworth chug away, lacking the innovation of Teppei Teranishi or dexterity of Justin Shekoski...

Sound: The post-hardcore act is back with their second album. Well, sort of. No one decided to review this album till now. Clearly these guys are quite talented, nonetheless very young. This can be a good thing, and a bad thing. Sound: For me, this is one of the best cd's I have heard in a long time. This band has come so far from their demos. They have stepped it up a lot in their music writing. They have become way more technical, but only technical to a point. It's good technical, not over the top like some bands out there. There are pretty music parts, but there are also some very heavy parts, and whn you put all of that together, it sounds Pretty good. // 10 Lyrics and Singing: Well, let me just say one thing...

One could easily argue that post-hardcore's current incarnation is just as laughable as the neon pop scene due to its oversaturated market, sexual chocolate men and so-called "br00tal music." Even progress made by some of the scene's newest bands should actually be considered a step backwards. Their perceived "innovation" has come in the form of gimmicks, such as breakdowns and electronic effects...
