The first time I heard Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' smash hit "Thrift Shop" I thought to myself, "This could be Prof." The same wisecrack attitude, the same untamable flow, the same predilection for musical collages. (Accidentally, the Seattle rapper's full alias used to be Professor Macklemore.) Both also have a serious side to them, and that's exactly where they go seperate ways...

Goto commentsLeave a commentShare In Need of Refresher Courses Kaiser Von Powderhorn 3 is the latest entry in Prof's Kaiser Von Powderhorn mixtape series. Minnesota rapper Prof can best be understood by looking at the cover of his latest album. Toronto DJ duo inside-A-mind prefer the former over the latter for both their smoked out live sets as well as for their meticulously planned but laidback recorded material, so it's no surprise that ProF (aka Professor Fingers) continues down this road for his first solo outing...

The general impression that the thriving Twin Cities' rap scene begins and ends with the Rhymesayers conglomerate is worse than wrong?it's insulting to us locals who, despite giving due props to Atmosphere for blazing a national trail and Brother Ali for being fucking dope, know that those representatives are just the tip of this iceberg...
