Taking their name from a character on the hit 1990s Nickelodeon cartoon Rugrats, party-pop champions Reptar have released what is sure to be their first of many long-players for Vagrant Records. The group's infectious and always-danceable music has earned them opening spots for Foster the People and other notable acts over the past couple of years, and Body Faucet provides plenty of justification for these honors and others surely to be given in the future...

Named after the dinosaur from Rugrats, this four-piece from Athens, Georgia take the art of silliness very seriously indeed. They're a party band: the kind that would appear to make a mission out of irritating fans of serious music, simply because those (mostly) guys are no fun at all to be around...

Body Faucet from Athens Georgia band Reptar is a lovely, sunny offering full of bouncing tunes and reggae-infused melodies that will make you want to break out the rum. Producer Ben Allen has worked with the likes of Gnarls Barkley and Animal Collective, and his stamp is well and truly felt in the music. This is especially so with opener 'Sebastian' with its vibe, while the sweet 'Please Don't Kill Me' recalls Vampire Weekend's clever mixture of pop and reggae...

Classic Rugrats character Reptar has inspired a television show, a movie, a rollercoaster, a toy franchise, an (amazing) ice show and now a rock band. Not bad for a crudely drawn fake Godzilla. The latest of the "spin-offs" is an indie rock quartet from Athens, Georgia, whose infectious upbeat music could spark a dance pandemic. Body Faucet, the full-length debut from Reptar, is full of high-energy instrumentation, catchy call-and-response lyrics and the unique voice of Graham Ulicny...

Just when I was ready to declare that indie-rock was fresh out of surprises, along came Athens' Reptar, a quartet of misfit college drop-outs whose debut EP, 2011's Oblangle Fizz, Y'all!, was as dementedly unhinged as it was dementedly catchy. To say they did things their own way would be an understatement: Mingling laser-beam synths, Afro-pop hooks, Jock Jams chants and monstrous drumbeats, they made weird fun again, even if the mania only lasted a half-hour...

This Athens, GA band's debut full-length is a fun, hook-filled set of bouncy electro-pop with a loud, rambunctious sound featuring bright, squelching synths, Afropop-influenced guitar lines, dance-friendly, occasionally tropical rhythms, sing-a-long choruses and sunny pop melodies.

If you're between the ages of 18 and 28 and you aren't a regular reader of Alternative Press, you might be inclined to dismiss Reptar based on name alone. Basically, if someone handed me a flyer advertising a show with Reptar, I would be confused as to why the Warped Tour was being held at a dive bar instead of the local fairgrounds...

If you've watched your fair share of Rugrats, you'll recognize the name of this Athens quartet. On the show, Reptar is a gigantic, green, Godzilla-esque dinosaur with a knack for pulverizing cityscapes. On their debut EP, Reptar are pretty much the exact sonic equivalent. "Blastoff" (bonus points for perfect song titles) is simply an un-fucking-believable opener -- an exercise in demented excess that only gets better the more you peel it apart...
