Robin Trower Concert Tickets

Robin Trower (born March 9, 1945 in Catford, England) is a british blues rock guitarist who achieved success with Procol Harum during the 1960's, and then again as the leader of his own power trio. Perhaps Trower's most famous album is Bridge Of Sighs (1974). This album, along with his first (Twice Removed From Yesterday) and third (For Earth Below) solo albums, was produced by his former Procol Harum band mate, organist Matthew Fisher. Southend boy turned Stateside

Here's a totally "new" collection of 24 live archive tracks from Trower, a man who was dropped by Chrysalis not long after the start of the 80s, but made them plenty of money in the 70s with eight US Top 40 albums in fewer years.

Robin Trower's long and winding career seems to have entered an upturn recently, assisted by his newfound willingness to play outside America. This second sweep through his extensive back catalogue (after 2010's A Tale Untold) is subtitled The Chrysalis Years 1977-1983 and namechecks Jack Bruce, who linked with Trower in 1981 and 1982 for BLT and Truce respectively...

Now into his sixth recording decade, Robin Trower's in the ideal position to put his career into musical perspective by paying tribute to his roots. As the title suggests, though, he hasn't entirely seen this idea through, choosing to mix influential oldies such as Hound Dog (the Big Mama Thornton original), BB King's The Thrill Is Gone and Albert King's Born Under A Bad Sign with material of his own...

I don?t think I will ever understand why Robin Trower isn?t talked about in the same hushed tones as Clapton or Beck or the Kings. Apart from the fact that he hasn?t courted the press acclaim of those or pandered toi the Blues/Rock brethren that believe that anyone who plays a Stevie Ray Vaughan riff is a genius he really hasn?t done anything wrong...

Over the past few years, Chrysalis has been re-releasing albums by some of its biggest acts of the past like UFO. They have also released several archived sets, of which this is one, of all the recordings made by the so-called "white Jimi Hendrix", Robin Trower. Two previous sets are fantastic; one contains his most potent work including the near-masterpiece Bridge of Sighs, while the other is a collection of blistering performances first heard on BBC Radio...

Back in the mid-seventies, when Prog was seeing its power wane, when Punk was rearing its spotty head and when people had forgotten what a great guitarist sounded like, Robin Trower was laying down music that crossed boundaries and stuck two languid fingers up at the trendies...

One-time Procol Harum guitarist, Hendrix acolyte and all-round earthy blues singer, Trower has ploughed a verdant solo furrow for decades - and the latest in his long line of blues-infused rock sets is as soulful as any. Jack Bruce would be at home in this trio on the opening title track and the smoky 60s club atmospherics of Don't Look Back, swinging amiably with its female backing singing, while Trower's period riffage comes to the fore on the sweet'n'perky The Turning...

Robin Trower has been as much a joy to me over the years as he has a trial to many other critics. Since ?Bridge Of Sighs? many of the critics have dumped him in the bag marked ?Hendrix copyist? but this is both unfair and patently untrue and ?The Playful Heart? ? his 31st album either solo, with Procul Harum or others ? is one of the best things he has ever done...
