Saving Abel Reviews

5.0 (based on 5 reviews)

Sound: After two years of pretty being f--king unheard from, southern radio rockers Saving Abel stormed back to life with their new album "Bringing Down The Giant". Because of the variety on this record, I'm reviewing each song separately: 1. "Bringing Down The Giant" - The title track to the new album, and maybe the best song the band has ever written (Yes, even better than "Addicted"). It's a swaggering, heavy anthem that showcases Saving Abel at their heaviest...

Summary: More of the same... Right down to the album cover. It is never a good sign when a band is arguably best known for having a close-up of a jean-clad female backside on their album cover. If this is not the claim to fame of Mississippi quintet Saving Abel, then it is probably that they included the lyric "I'm so addicted to all the things you do, when you're going down on me in between the sheets" on their very first single...

Sound: With a gold album and at least one hit single ("Addicted") under the quintet's belt, Saving Abel possibly didn't want to ruffle any fans' feathers going into its 2nd studio recording. Upon hearing the self-titled debut's follow-up, Miss America, it's hard not to come to that conclusion. For better or worse, the 11 new tracks don't stray far from the "Addicted" songwriting format, with the song "Contagious" being the apple that falls closest to that musical tree...

Sound: Rock 'n' roll in a myriad of tints including acoustic, folk, country, metal, pop, orchestral, and Southern powered is what Saving Abel deliver on their self-titled debut release. Produced by Skidd Mills (Saliva, Submersed, 12 Stones), the songs grumble with Southern rock bowels reminiscent of Submersed through the guitar cuts of Jason Null and Scott Bartlett...
