Sebastian Bach Reviews

Avg. Customer Rating:
5.0 (based on 9 reviews)

Ex-Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach has many strings to his bow these days, appearing in TV's Gilmore Girls and in various Broadway musicals, but, from the evidence of his third solo album, hard rock is still his real vocation. It's a classic yet contemporary-sounding album; the tunes have enough groove and grit to feel like they belong in 2014, but Bach's very 80s voice and the soaring choruses should find favour with fans of the work that made his name.

More or less 18 years, that's the amount of time that has passed since Sebastian Bach parted ways with his bandmates in Skid Row but fans were forced to wait untill 2007 to get their hands on the man's first genuine solo release entitled "Angel Down". The album itself got mixed reactions due to its rather heavy nature but Sebastian set things straight with "Kicking & Screaming" that saw him abandoning some of the heaviness in favour of a more melodic approach with killer grooves and memorable...

If you didn't know it, and I'm guessing you do, Sebastian Bach is a wild man on stage. Most of the time, the man's in constant motion, pumping up the crowd and singing his lungs out. If the stage is an outdoor festival, like France's Hellfest, then look out: he's all over the place. Bach's in his element, and he's a pure rock entertainer. You can't curb his enthusiasm and it's contagious. Sebastian Bach: pumps up the crowd...

Although mister Bach and Skid Row parted ways some 16 years ago neither of them have been actively recording and putting out new material since their less than amicable split. Mister Bach has released 4 solo efforts so far of which only 2007's "Angel Down" and "Kicking & Screaming" which saw the light of day 2 years ago, can be considered as genuine solo albums made up of all newly written tunes...

Sound: Sebastian Bach is f--king famous. The man starred on "Gilmore Girls", reality shows such as "I Married Sebastian Bach" and "Gone Country", and oh by the way, he used to sing for New Jersey metal titans Skid Row. He is generally regarded as one of the best lead singers in rock n' roll, and is an idol to younger bands such as Black Veil Brides and Asking Alexandria. After being kicked out of Skid Ro in 1996, Bach began his TV exploits. He also started a solo career...

Forget everything you know (or think you know) about Sebastian Bach. Erase the memories of Skid Row, his friendship with Axl Rose, his rather eccentric (yet funny) interviews and the Fabio-esque pictures. Once you've managed to do this, listen to Kicking & Screaming, free of preconceived notions. Not bad, eh? Hair flowing, guitars glowing and vocals roaring, Sebastian Bach is doing what he does best on Kicking & Screaming...

Hey man, did you know Skid Row's Sebastian Bach has a new solo album out (his fourth)? No. Do you care? Neither do I. Is it any good? Well, it sounds like a bad Alice in Chains knockoff (remember how much you hated Godsmack?), blended with those awful latest Mötley Crüe songs; Bach whines so much like Vince Neil, it's almost embarrassing. Speaking of Botoxed blond singers, have you checked the booklet yet? Yeah, I almost puked in my mouth...

I'm pretty sure Sebastian Bach needed this record right now. Having filed for divorce late last year and then having his one of kind Skid Row masters and Kiss memorabilia destroyed by hurricane Irene, it feels like the right time for him to kick a little ass again. Personally, I can't help but like the guy. He's off-the-wall and can often waver between train-wreck and 14-year-old but he's a rock 'n' roller if there ever was one...

Like many of you I consider the first 2 albums mister Bach recorded with his former pals in Skid Row classics of the hair metal genre. With the videos for the songs "18 & Life", "Piece Of Me", "Youth Gone Wild" and "I Remember You" getting heavy airplay on the once mighty MTV the debut quickly started shifting considerable numbers and soon the band was a household name all over the world...
