Sepultura Concert Tickets

Sepultura is a Brazilian metal band that formed in 1983 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The band was a major force in the death metal, thrash metal and ultimately groove metal realms during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their name means "grave" in Portuguese, which they chose after Max Cavalera, one of the founding members, was translating the lyrics of the Motörhead song "Dancing on Your Grave". Sepultura Reviews

Unsurprisingly, given that they were one of the most successful genuinely heavy bands in history, the Sepultura brand is an enduring - if increasingly fractured - one. With Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy containing more original members than today's incarnation of the group, one could be forgiven for writing off the current line-up, were they merely trading on past glories. Fortunately, recent albums display an impressive dedication to progression and musical evolution.

This year, Sepultura is back in my CD player with their 13th studio album, The Mediator Between Head and Hands Must Be the Heart. Yes, I know, the album title is ridiculously long and sounds stupid at first - until you think about it. Don't let the title diminish your interest, because Seps have packed so much heaviness, intensity, speed and darkness into this release that it will leave a hole in the back of your head. The Mediator.....

Every time Sepultura release a new disc, you just hope against hope it's going to blow everyone away. However, every time it ends up being admirable yet forgettable, loved by critics and diehards, with the average Joes shrugging their shoulders and immediately forgetting the confusing title, never mind the overblown concept or who even played on it. This insanely titled effort won't change all that, but it's a solid, strong album...

Sound: Sepultura, an awesome metal band I have fallen in love with. Since their deadly album of arise, to now, they have become by far the most masterful in their techneque of metal in this album. Chaos A.D., a slap in the face for all the critics who had wiritten em off. A great all out hardcore album with definately the best vocals I've heard from Sepultura uptill today...

Sound: By 1985, Sepultura had just signed up with Cogumelo Records, which allowed them to record this EP, a split album with Overdose's "Século XX" (another Brazilian metal classic). The 4 tracks on this EP are still regarded by many as one of the most influential metal releases, and one of the first death metal releases...

Sound: Quite a lot has happened in the last few years regarding Sepultura and their related acts. First of all, in 2006 they released 'Dante XXI', their best album in 15 years. Shortly afterwards legendary drummer Igor Cavalera left the band; those who believe Sepultura 'died' after original frontman Max Cavalera stormed off certainly lost any remainder of hope. They, however, were given Cavalera Conspiracy, the reunion of the two Cavalera brothers and their none-too-shabby debut, 'Inflikted'...

Goto commentsLeave a commentShare It's Time Once Again To the rest of the world, Brazil conjures images of sandy beaches, Carnivale, and that big statue of Jesus. To heavy metal fans, there is only one thought: Sepultura. Even after 27 years, 12 albums, and a few staff changes, the boys from Brazil still know how to rock, and they don't mind showing it on their latest, Kairos...

Yes, everybody and their grandmother might have an opinion on the Sepultura/Cavalera's situation. BUT, for the sake of actually just purely listening to the music and avoiding inter-band politics and member issues, let's just pretend that Sepultura are just four dudes in a metal band releasing their new album, and that's it. Now that we've got that out of the way, the Brazillian's 12th record "Kairos" has quite a bit riding on it...

Don't lie to yourself - Kairos is an album created by half of the original version of Sepultura (Andreas Kisser and Paulo Jr.), so is this really Sepultura? You know, it's kind of like watching Guns N' Roses in 2011, when we all know it's just really Axl and friends under the moniker. Yet, surprisingly, Kairos is the kind of album that the original Sepultura should've released a long time ago, before Max Cavalera decided to leave and go play with nu-metal (sis on him)...
