Silverstein Concert Tickets

Silverstein is a 5-piece post-hardcore band from Burlington, Ontario, Canada; formed in 2000. The band name was taken from the famous children's author Shel Silverstein. After several lineup changes, the band acquired Billy Hamilton, a local fan who learned of the band's need for a bassist on the Internet message board "The 905 Board" (an Ontario area outreach board which used to be for local musicians). Silverstein Reviews

We've all seen it before: a seemingly talented band puts out a great song with a kickass album to back it up. They blow up on the music scene and no one can get enough of them. Over time, that once great band falls back into the shadows of their peers, not able to live up to the high standards they initially set. Eventually, everyone has enough of the crumbling artist and moves on to the next best thing, leaving the musicians to sulk in the ruins of their glory days...

The idea that one situation can changed dramatically by something as innocent as where the wind blows is a compelling one - something Silverstein explores thoroughly on its latest album, This Is How The Wind Shifts. I feel like Silverstein has been one of the more underappreciated bands out of the early-00's post-hardcore boom. While many similar acts have either folded or released poor imitations of past work, the Ontario quintet continues to challenge their selves...

Release Date: February 5th 2013 About three or four years ago, I purchased a copy of Canadian post-hardcore band Silverstein's 2005 record Discovering the Waterfront, which is arguably their most popular record, and while I enjoyed it, it never stuck with me. Mainly it was due to vocalist Shane Told's rather whiny vocals. I could never really get into them, and therefore, the band itself really just flew past my radars...

Release Date: February 5, 2013 Here we are, in 2013, and Silverstein has released their 7th studio album (One release being covers and songs that did not make it to other albums). This is an impressive feat for any band. Like clockwork, they have released an album every 2 years since 2003. I have a great deal of respect for this aspect of the band alone (Over 5 years, Streetlight Manifesto, since your last original album? Really?)...

Summary: short, but enjoyable. 14 of 15 thought this review was well written Musically speaking, Short Songs is better than I anticipated. The first eleven songs are Silverstein originals that showcase the band as solid as ever, playing to their strengths, and making compelling songs despite their short running times. One can't help wishing they would expand upon some of the better tracks, but what they have here is solid Silverstein affair...

Sound: The sound on this album is very impressive and crisp. The instruments and sounds all go together great and eventually have thier own points where they shine. The guitars and drums go great with almost every song and can be pretty heavy during verses and get catchy during the chorus. The drums and guitars shine their best at the start of the song "Vices" which starts out with a cool drum beat that goes into a great combination with the guitar...

Sound: Silverstein is personally one of my favorite albums. Haling from Ontario, Canada this band has gone from a local bar band to a headlining act. Silverstein is now gaining much more popularity with their new album which was released in august, "Discovering The Waterfront." I bought this album on its release date and have not stopped listening to it yet. I've attempted to learn all of the guitar to most of the songs and have the lyrics down by heart. This album is truely amazing...

Sound: Silvertstein. So much to say about this band. To me they redefined punk, heavy, screamo, and what ever else they could go into. That right there is very impressive. Their sound is intense. They go from playing some heavy stuff to playing a softer melody back to heavy. They defintely stand out from other bands now a days where all the singers sound like girls...

Sound: "Rick Wakeman eat your heart out, here we go!" I bet you never thought you'd see the day that a Dead Kennedys quote set the agenda for an album from Canadian post-hardcore merchants Silverstein. That day, though, has come with "Short Songs", a blast of 22 songs in 19 minutes that probably would push the aging prog rocker well over the edge...
