Theodore Anthony "Ted" Nugent (born December 13, 1948) (aka "The Nuge", "Motor City Madman", "Uncle Ted", or just plain Ted) is a guitarist and singer-songwriter from Detroit, Michigan that has performed for over four decades. He originally gained fame as a guitarist for the The Amboy Dukes, a 60s psychedelic band best known for their hit "Journey To the Center of Your Mind". Ted Nugent Reviews

Who calls him/herself a fan of rock 'n roll and doesn't know 'Uncle" Ted Nugent? The man's been in the business longer than we can remember. He started his road to fame and fortune in 1965 as guitar player for The Amboy Dukes, with whom he had his first hit single 'Journey To The Centre Of The Mind' 3 years later...

About ten years ago, maybe fifteen, Ted Nugent appeared in a VH1 special where he commented on why people come to his concerts. He said, with his toothy grin, something to the effect, "Fans come to my shows to see the flames shooting out of my ass." I always found that hilarious, pure Nuge. Yet with his new CD/DVD live set, Ultralive Ballisticrock, you'll discover the fireworks are coming from the other end. Ted Nugent Band: defending the 2nd Amendment...

Presumably "ballistic rock"rather than "ballisti-crock",there can be few things moremacho (or less glamorous) inthe world of hard rock thana Ted Nugent concert.

Sound: Before Eddie Van Halen and while Jimmy Page was taking some long, Coke-induced break there was hardly any real guitar-based artists out at this time. Those artists that would melt your face off at the first sound of the roaring guitar with all of the amps turned up to 11. Well, in 1975, you had to fear no more: Uncle Ted was here. His sound really brought something new and fresh to the 70's...

One thing about The Nuge: He sticks to his guns. Literally. How someone can continue making music in the year 2002 after wearing little more than Fred Flintstone's underwear - and singing songs like Wang Dang Sweet Poontang - in the '70s is a testament to perseverance. Or stubbornness. Nuge has become a legend (musical and politically), his family-man/clean-living lifestyle mixed with his pro-gun/pro-hunting advocacy. and the ability to talk both of your ears off while chewing on your mouth...

The ultra-conservative, misogynistic, gun-toting Motor City Madman is certifiably nuts, repeatedly screaming "Fuck you!" over hair-metal guitar solos in Funk U, drooling salaciously in songs like Girl Scout Cookies and cocking his gun and baring his soul in Spirit of the Buffalo. Nugent's blues-rock feel still plays well with diehard fans - The Nuge remains an incredibly expressive axeman after all these years - but his sneering message made Nugent, now 58, irrelevant 20 years ago.

Sound: One word awesome! Ted Nugent is back and rocking harder than ever with his release of Love Grendade. With the feeling of hard rock in the style of Uncle Ted, this album rocks. My favorite song off the CD was probably Eagle Brother, an instrumental where Ted displays some serioius guitar action. All of the songs are packed with extremely catchy riffs like Girl Scout Cookies, and Funk you (some of my favorites). There is even an old school blues song on the album...

Sound: I think ted nugent is awesome. I think he uses the key of a a little bit too much, but I dont really care, cuz it's a good key and he makes awesome songs off of it, like Wang Dang Sweet Pootang, Cat Scratch Fever (awesome song), Motor City Madhouse (my favorite), and I'm Pretty Sure In Stranglehold. Those are just some of them. It's safe to say that ted nugent defines rock n roll...

Sound: When Ted Nugent performed his 6,000th concert on the very patriotic date of July 4, 2008, he gave his fans exactly what they had come to love about the Motor City Madman - namely lots of meaty riffs, patriotism galore, and of course, a bit of chatter about his favorite pastime, hunting. While there are plenty of classic rock artists who have lost their edginess (and energy) with the passing decades, Nugent is an anomaly...
