Tweet OMG VNV MIA WTF Ever wanted a favorite best-kept secret finally shared with the world, only to not feel right about it soon after? Maybe it's a great burger joint that's suddenly not so great after they open new locations, or the consignment shop you can't squeeze into after it gets just the right write-up. We wonder if longtime industrial fans share that situational dread on hearing new album Transnational from veteran body-music group VNV Nation...

Some trends in pop are just that, trends, but some innovators settle in for the long haul, and in future centuries, scholars will study them, and wives will drag husbands to symphony concerts of Kraftwerk or Falco. Laugh if you will. I always try to entertain you. VNV Nation (Ronan Harris on electronics, lyrics, and vocals backed by Mark Jackson on drums) is one of those in-it-for the-long-haul grooves...

Summary: utter misery befalls "Praise the Fallen" rendering it VNV Nation's worst album. 2 of 2 thought this review was well written There is a time in everyone's life when everything seems to be crashing in on them. Everything that can go wrong does go wrong, and it is understandably disheartening. There are many ways of getting through a difficult time, but a common one seems to be the use of music...

Summary: and there was light. 2 of 2 thought this review was well written Futurepop is essentially a cocktail. Although many futurepop artists come out with the same taste in the end, VNV Nation's flavor constantly varies, and it is quite exquisite. In other words, although they are definitely a futurepop band, they are many other things as well. They're ambient, they're industrial, they're often instrumental, etc...

Summary: every saga has a beginning... 3 of 3 thought this review was well written VNV Nation: that wonderful futurepop band that went on to become one of the greatest futurepop bands of all time. They not only created the genre, they defined it. With every slice the taste improved, to the point where the band has become quite the powerhouse. However, one has to wonder what their music sounded like when they were new, when they were inexperienced...

Summary: yet another excellent futurepop album. 2 of 2 thought this review was well written Formed in 1990, VNV Nation have been in the music business for 21 years, which is quite an accomplishment. Releasing an album every few years, they wasted no time in bringing us music, and quality music at that. Say what you want, but there's no denying their work ethic, or their influence on future industrial acts...

Summary: the time was set, the deal was done. VNV Nation had just begun. 4 of 4 thought this review was well written Futurepop is a genre created by VNV Nation that mixes synthpop, EBM, and trance. As expected, the genres go extraordinarily well together, and especially in the capable hands of a veteran band. As the founders of futurepop, they have used their creative license to the full extent, creating a diverse, constantly shifting sound...

Summary: simplicity isn't always a virtue. 5 of 5 thought this review was well written VNV Nation's music is fairly straightforward, but this hasn't caused too many problems for them. Their songwriting has always been strong, and despite repeating many similar chords, they consistently create excellent music. They do not stumble often, and considering their large discography, their talent is extraordinary. However, no band is perfect, and Judgement seems to be one of their disappointments...

Sound: VNV Nation are an industrial band hailing from Ireland and England (now based in Hamburg). This is their third album, and also their breakthrough into the more mainstream synthpop genre. This album stripped away the harsher EBM aspects of their previous two albums and instead presents the listener with more ambient layers of pads and arpeggio lines...
