Sound: Fueled by its strong presence on MySpace, Eyes Set To Kill makes it apparent on the new album Reach why the group has attracted such fanfare. There are a lot of great elements within the quintet, with the focal point being vocalist/guitarist Alexia Rodriguez. But for as strong as Rodriguez is, Eyes Set To Kill insists on being screamo and that aspect ends up being unnecessarily distracting at times...

'White Lotus,' the fourth full length from Eyes Set to Kill, isn't much more than a glorified EP, one without any sort of an ebb-and-flow to follow along to as the first few songs fit in with what the band has been doing sonically up to this point (soaring clean vocals, spotty screaming, crunchy guitars), but the last four are acoustic, two of them cover songs. That being said, if 'White Lotus' were to have been released as two separate EP's, it would have been better off for it...

Once you move past the cuteness factor of Eyes Set To Kill--two sisters lead this Phoenix-based rock band--it becomes apparent that the group still have a lot of growing up to do. ESTK's fourth album is a step in the right direction in their evolution, with a full-bodied sound courtesy of producer Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, the Word Alive) and songs that are more focused than the somewhat chaotic, scattershot material on their previous albums...

Eyes Set To Kill release their second album, The World Outside, with a lot of follow up on. Coming after the first full length Reach which established a fanbase and a sound for them to fit into, this album does very well in holding their sound and moving it further in a perhaps progressive direction. The World Outside starts off with "Heights", squealing growls to begin, advancing to more mellifluous vocals to overlap, the contrast is interesting to say the least...

It is extremely possible that Paramore's breakthrough to the mainstream represented something of a watershed for the "emo" scene. The subsequent obsession with female-led bands is directly responsible for the sky-bound careers of Hey Monday, VersaEmerge, and possibly even The Morning Of. Of course, it didn't take long for the obsession with chick singers to flow into heavier music, and the result of this is the upward career of Ocala, Florida's Eyes Set To Kill...

Reach is the first full length for this quintet hailing from hot Tempe, AZ. Sisters Alexia & Anissa Rodriguez started this band. Their name is derived from a poem that Alexia wrote in high school where she talked about a man and how his "eyes were set to kill". There are 3 songs that were re-recorded from their EP, When Silence Is Broken, The Night Is Torn since their original lead singer left the band and Alexia took over the lead vocal duties for the band...

Release Date: June 8, 2010 Before receiving this album in the mail, I ventured back and listened to Eyes Set to Kill's previous albums to note changes from then to now while reviewing this album. I realize now how unnecessary this was, as no change has occurred (excluding the addition of recording-session-only screamer Justin Denson, which is rather disappointing, considering how skilled he is) and how relieving this is in a way...

Eyes Set To Kill lends a whole new meaning to the term "if looks could kill" but it's also the name of the Arizona based metalcore band formed in 2003 by sisters Anissa and Alexia Rodriquez. I discovered the band whilst on holiday in L...

When Eyes Set to Kill broke out in 2008 with Reach, its biggest selling points were sisters Alexia and Anissa Rodriguez. The presence of two women in a metalcore/post-hardcore band was uncommon, and still is two years later. After 2009's darker The World Outside, the band has settled into its sound on Broken Frames. Lead singer Alexia sounds a lot like In This Moment vocalist Maria Brink on this album, singing an octave higher than on previous albums...
