On January 13, 2015, Red Bull Sound Select put on quite the showcase at Baby's All Right in Brooklyn. And what a fun group of well-dressed punks were there!
Brooklyn-based Aye Nako was first. I don't know much about the band, but they were an enjoyable group of youngsters. The pop punk sound threaded throughout seemed like a work in progress, but they were definitely a well-suited opener.
The same cannot be said for Ryley Walker...

I'm nearing the end of my rope here. Per the usual, life's pressures are bearing down in an almost gleeful kind of way, taking joy in expressing every little fault and fracture. I've had too much to drink and too little time to think. And in a way, an album like Hop Along's Get Disowned is sorta perfect for this. Like life and all my silly, insignificant problems, the album is messy and irrevocably unrefined...

This album came as a complete and total surprise to me. Having never heard of them prior to a friend's constant raving that this is the best album of the past 10 years, I decided that I should give Get Disowned a spin. While I can't say that this is the best album of the past 10 years, it certainly is the best thing that I have heard in 2012, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it ended up topping my end of the year list...
