Devil is the second album released by Lydia since the band got back together after their very, very brief break up. The band are known for the dreamy indie pop and respect within punk circles, but after the return of the band, along with the departure of Mindy White, the band have sort of fallen off the radar. Luckily, Devil is the record they needed to release. It sounds like a breath of fresh air...

Release Date: September 16, 2008 A beautiful rainy day near the sea. That's what this album brings into my mind. It's sad yet wonderful and of course this is a masterpiece. With smooth, rhythmic tunes sung with perfect execution by lead singer Leighton Altman and back up vocalist Mindy White. Throughout the album, lead guitarist Steve McGraw shows his talent and experience with large amounts of solos that are each completely different from the other...

Parking in Allston, MA, on this particular Saturday night was quite a shitshow. So much so, in fact, that I could really only catch two of the bands playing this lineup: off-again/on-again indie pop darlings Lydia and alternative/indie upstarts From Indian Lakes. The time between was needed to move my car into a legal spot, having been imposed by 2-hour limitations...

Release Date: March 19, 2013 When Lydia called takesies-backsies on their 2010 disbandment, it was easy for many fans to be skeptical. For one, the reunited band would only be comprised of two-fifths of the original line-up--fans worried whether Lydia would be able to recover from the loss of the female backing vocals or interesting guitar work that defined 2008's remarkable Illuminate...

Release Date: March 19, 2013 I wasn't too sure what to expect when I heard Lydia were switching producers to Colby Wedgeworth, breaking off their longtime relationship with Matt Malpass. When learning the band was aiming for a spring release for a record called Devil, I felt a little more cautious yet. This is Lydia we are talking about, a band synonymous with winter days and rainy nights...

Release Date: November 19th, 2012 Last October, Arizona outfit Lydia came from the ashes like a phoenix, but not a conventional phoenix. Vocalist Leighton Antelman and drummer Craig Taylor recorded a new album entitled Paint It Golden under the name Lydia and released it to the public. A few weeks ago, they announced an acoustic EP, which was intriguing to me, because I loved Lydia's acoustic material. After listening to the EP, I certainly wasn't disappointed...

Sound: There was a lot of hype (there still is) surrounding Illuminate and I think Lydia deserves this considering that they are one of the most underrated bands out there today (although their continually growing popularity proves otherwise). I have been personally waiting two years for this release and I must say that the album doesn't disappoint; however, in my eyes, it will never match the perfection that This December; It's One More and I'm Free (Lydia's debut album) had...

Reunions are such the rage these days that bands barely even really break up--they just go away for a little while. Such is the case with Lydia. Arizona's most wistful indie pop-rockers called it a day last year, issuing one final installment of their dreamy, heartfelt compositions on an EP called Assailants and embarking on one final tour for their cult of beloved fans...

Lydia were no more. And suddenly Lydia were, again. Only this time Lydia were only two, but Lydia it certainly still is. However, it seems the band's trimming of musicians has brought other changes along with it. Indeed, Lydia's previous two full-lengths 'December' and 'Illuminate' showcased a brand of melancholic indie-rock, displayed soft tinges of shoegaze and injected enough pop sensibilities to sustain the song writing's pulse...
